BTCC Season Launch Kicks Off In Style

A full capacity grid of 30 cars, once again shows just how poplar the tin top championship is. With new and old faces on the grid with a few moving teams here is how media day panned out.

Tom Ingram showed off his new livered Toyota Corolla with the backing of Ginsters, Tom will again hope he’s a championship challenger from the get go, setting the 8th fastest time one place ahead of 2018 champion Colin Turkington. WSR have changed car this year to the BMW 3 series, a striking new car but will it have the same success as the 1 series, once again he is partnered by Andrew Jordan and new team mate moving from Ciceley motorsport Tom Oliphant.

The AMD Honda pairing of Sam Tordoff and Rory Butcher proved rapid with Tordoff topping the time sheets with a time of 48.087 which was under last years pole record! Butcher finished the day in 5th.

Fan’s favourite Jack Goff rescued with a last minute deal with Team HARD finished in 18th but only half a second of pole, not bad for his first time in the car. He finished ahead of 2017 champion Ash Sutton and multiple race winner and two time champion Jason Plato who has switched to Power Maxed racing, his new team mate ex WSR man Rob Collard will be on the look out for more victories after moving teams.

Jake Hill returns to the BTCC with Trade price cars which saw him finish 10th overall in his Audi S3 with his new team mate Mark Blundell finishing in 24th.

Dan Cammish and Matt Neal will look to build on last season with this being the second season of the Honda Civic FK8, Cammish finished 3rd overall in the sessions with Neal in 9th separated by a tenth of a second. Also using the FK8 this year are Team BTC with Chris Smiley and his new team mate Josh Cook, they will be looking to gather many more podiums and victory’s to add to last years tally.

The Motorbase squad field a new look team, Tom Chilton will once again mount a championship challenge in his Ford Focus, with his new team mates for 2019 in Ollie Jackson moving from AMD and Nic Hamilton returns to the BTCC in his strikingly livered Focus.

It looks like another close contest this year, with the season kicking off on the 6th April at Brands Hatch. With 10 rounds to look forward to who will we see crowned champion at Brands in October.
