Motorsport season is gaining momentum for an exciting 2019 season...

What better way to get rid of the winter blues then to think ahead to the Spring days where engines roar into life again and tyre smoke fills the air.

Snetterton 16th February sees the first outing for SJN Photography with the Motorsport News Rally taking place around the track and paddock. There will be a variety of cars from Ford Escorts to Peugeot’s and Suburu’s. It’s a great way to kickstart the season and get some practice after the winter break.

The BRSCC season kickstarts in March at Silverstone for the Caterham’s as they have a 4 hour endurance race. The British GT season starts at Oulton Park as it has done for a few years on the Easter weekend. The same weekend sees TCR UK begins it’s second season this time starting at Snetterton a circuit which is new to the calendar, which SJN Photography hopes to attend.

750 Motor Club are starting their season later in April with Brands Hatch Indy circuit playing host to the first weekend of the season, with 13 formulae taking part including the new Ma7da series and the Gaz Shocks 116i Trophy a new mini one make endurance series. Also joining the club this year are the F1000 slicks and wings championship moving from the BRSCC. 19 race meetings will take place across 2019 with the Club Enduro visiting Spa in July for two endurance races. All Club Enduro meetings this year will be live streamed by Alpha Live who produced great Birkett relay coverage for the 2018 race. Many other championships will also benefit from some races being live streamed as well. The Locost championship will celebrate 20 years this year, and shows no signs of slowing down, with grids in excess of 30+ at the majority of meetings slipstreaming is the key!

One driver to keep an eye on this year will be Ben Rushworth, currently the reigning 750 Motor Club Class A Hot Hatch Champion, he will be competing in the VW racing cup in a Joyce Design Polo. It will be fascinating to see how he gets on, not only will he be competing in the Polo but Ben is hoping to still race in the Hot Hatch Championship and bring out his championship winning MG Metro! He’s certainly in for a busy 2019.

BTCC will begin the season at Brands Hatch on the 6th April, where it will see Tom Ingram in his new Toyota Corolla hopefully challenging at the front for the outright title. 2019 will also see the Clio Cup for the final time as of 2020 the Mini JCW championship will travel with the BTCC support package. Max Coates returns this time with Team HARD to challenge for the title he narrowly missed out on in 2018. Ben Colburn will enjoy a full season after joining for the last few rounds last year, he will be looking to build on his graduate cup win.

Up and down the country there will be a great deal of racing taking place, let’s hope for an exciting 2019 season..
